    Fingers Forever Crossed

So yesterday I got this really cool image in my e-mail….

    IMG_4023-1

The picture is from Clare who is the person handling the marketing for my new book Permanent Spring Showers (set to be published in early 2015 by 5 Prince Books).  They are going full in with the book and are hitting many of the bigger book reviewers with a galley copy, like The New York Times in the pic.

I would love it if the New York Times picked up the book and read it. I’m not sure exactly what my chances will be, I’m sure they get drowned in galley copies of new books each day. But this image definitely put a spring in my step yesterday… what can I say? I had to share it. It is just awesome, and for me the stuff that dreams are made of.

I hope to have the release date for the book for you soon. Stay tuned…

Until then... have you entered the book giveaway for my novel My Problem With Doors? Two lucky readers will win an autographed copy of my novel (which was just recently released for the Kindle with an exclusive afterword- here). The competition on GoodReads.com ends on October 28. You can enter by clicking below.

AND that is not all! The audiobook for A Jane Austen Daydream was just released. You can find it on Audible and iTunes!  I’m in awe of the performance Louisa Gummer did in the recording.  I hope you will check it out.  No wait… correct that… you need to check it out (and there are samples on both sites!). Definitely just the thing for roadtrips, iPods, iPhones or lazy afternoons.

On October 28, the giveaway for MY PROBLEM WITH DOORS ends on Goodreads.com. Two lucky readers will win an autographed copy of this surprising time-travel novel.

A door can take him to the past or the future, into any house, into any country. MY PROBLEM WITH DOORS is Jacob’s plea for help. Blog Tour Day 4: “Fun” New Review, Interview, and Spotlight for A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM

    07e2aa4a-4b20-4d2f-83a5-5e1cfe916944

This is the fourth day of the blog tour for A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM!

These blog tours are pretty busy! Two giveaways (with more on the way), spotlights, reviews and now an interview!

The interview was with Jorie Loves A Story. This was a very indepth interview about my writing style and my thoughts on Jane Austen (from her characters to adaptations on her work). She even asked me about my dog, Bronte! You can check out the interview here.

On the website Diary of an Eccentric there is a new review for the book. It’s a great review since it acts so well as an introduction to the book and plot. Please be aware though there are spoilers (at the end of the review and in the comments) to the big twist in the book. You can check out the review here.

Let’s see… what else? Oh, yes!  A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM is being spotlighted on the site What Is That Book About. You can check that out here.

One last bit! While the eBook giveaway on Bookish is done (and congrats to the winner), there is still one other eBook giveaway running at To Read or Not to Read. It is going on for a few days more, so jump over and enter! Here is the link. A Jane Austen Daydream

Blog Tour Day 3: “Wonderful” Two new reviews and another giveaway for A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM

    07e2aa4a-4b20-4d2f-83a5-5e1cfe916944

This is the third day of the blog tour for A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM!

Today I am happy to share with you two new book reviews and a new giveaway!

My favorite quote from the reviews comes from the website WTF Are You Reading.

Known not so affectionately as “the other Miss Austen”.  The brilliant authoress’ true story leaves much to be desired in the way of the “heart-stopping romance and timeless love matches” that have flowed with such unparallelled eloquence from her pen.

    Until Scott Southard…

With Austen inspired phrasing and a wonderful blend of fact and fancy, Southard allows readers to experience a well written and emotionally  appealing “what if”?
This book allows readers to experience Jane, the person.  Watching her grow, develop, and become the woman that this book portrays, is a wonderful experience of the human condition.

You can check out the rest of the review here. The website To Read or Not to Read also reviewed the book and is hosting a giveaway. You can check out that review and enter to win an eBook copy of the book here.

Remember there is another ebook giveaway still going on at Bookish! That one is about to wrap up soon, so enter here! A Jane Austen Daydream

Published by Madison Street Publishing, A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM can be purchased in print ($13.46) or as an eBook for the outrageously low price of $3.99 for Kindle. You can find it on Amazon here (http://amzn.com/B00CH3HQUU).

Two Book Giveaways! A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM and MEGAN

I can’t explain why, but I am a sucker for a sweepstakes or a giveaway. They reason I say sucker is my track record has never been so great. The fates are not kind to this Southard.  The only time I can remember winning anything recently is a few years ago I entered a contest for a family Disney Parks trip. I didn’t win the trip, but I did win an autographed book by Julie Andrews for my daughter. I like Julie Andrews fine (Mary Poppins rules), but it was not exactly something I was going to break into song about. A Jane Austen Daydream

Speaking of autographs and giveaways, unlike me, there is a strong chance you could win something this time. Two of my books are in the midst of a giveaway!

There are only a few days left to enter to win an eBook copy of my novel A Jane Austen Daydream. You can enter this giveaway (and read a really flattering review of the book) via the Bookish website here.

The second giveaway is on Goodreads.com. Two lucky readers will win an autographed copy of my novel Megan! You can enter via the link below.

Blog Tour Day 1: “Top-Notch” Review and Giveaway at Bookish for A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM

    07e2aa4a-4b20-4d2f-83a5-5e1cfe916944
Today is the first day of the blog tour for A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM!

On bookish.com there are quotes, a book review and even a giveaway for my novel. Here is an excerpt from the very flattering review:

The author brilliantly re-imagines the life of our beloved Jane Austen, weaving in facts, names, dates partly just fiction but some real based on the facts we know of Miss Austen’s short life. He even tucks in quite a few quotes/book references, as to keep us on our toes.

Firstly, the quality of his writing is top-notch. From the opening sentence to the last word, I was captivated.  I felt the author knew where he wanted to take the story and did so in an authoritative as well as engaging way.

Secondly, Scott Southard is an expert at writing in such a fashion as to induce feelings of hate, love, joy, sadness, and righteous fury. I wept, I laughed , I talked back at the characters making foolish decisions, I even rallied against those standing in the way of Jane’s happiness.

You can read the rest of the review here. Also, on that same page, one luck reader can win an eBook copy of A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM.  Check it out!

Published by Madison Street Publishing, A JANE AUSTEN DAYDREAM can be purchased in print ($13.46) or as an eBook for the outrageously low price of $3.99 for Kindle. You can find it on Amazon here (http://amzn.com/B00CH3HQUU).
